WHEELS ON FIRE: FULL MOON IN ARIES
With Mercury and Pluto now direct, the Aries Full Moon on October 9, 2022 comes to burn away old cycles for a transformative eclipse season.
Though retrogrades can be a pain, remember that it’s a perfect universe: Retrogrades slow down the energies of the planets involved, helping us learn how to use them most effectively. Mercury’s latest retrograde, from Sept. 9-Oct. 2, slowed down communications to help us think, process, and communicate better, while Pluto’s retrograde, from April 29 to Oct. 8, made us more cognizant of our triggers and shadow side, i.e., how we may still be reacting to past traumas that are no longer relevant. Now, with Mercury and Pluto direct, we’re clearer communicators with a better handle on our obsessive, self-destructive tendencies.
This Aries Full Moon, known as the Hunter’s Moon, aligns with asteroid Chiron, known as “the wounded healer.” The Full Moon’s conjunction with Chiron may make us more aware of our deepest fears and insecurities, helping us release that which undermines our hopes, dreams, and ideals. Essentially, we can use this Aries Full Moon to release self-limiting beliefs. This will be particularly helpful in preparation for eclipse season — a game-changing time which starts in the sign of Scorpio on the October 25th New Moon.
To find out which life area will be catalyzed in your chart this Full Moon — and what you can heal or burn away — see which astrological house 16 degrees of Aries falls in your chart. Likewise, read the horoscope for your sign and/or rising sign below.
ARIES: The Full Moon in Aries will light up your First House of Identity, helping you create a brand new you. You can create anything you want in your life, so long as 1.) you know what you want, and 2.) believe you can have it. This Full Moon will shine a light on what you want and the beliefs you have about yourself that support or undermine your efforts. Look closely at your life now and determine what’s bothersome. What are you sick of doing? What feelings are you ready to be done feeling? What beliefs do you have about yourself that have helped create your current reality? Once you locate where you’re experiencing frustration, sadness, and pain, use the next two weeks to release negative emotions from your mind and body: As you let go, forgiving yourself and the world, you’ll free yourself up for more love, success, and happiness.
TAURUS: The Full Moon in Aries will light up your Twelfth House of the Subconscious. This will likely bring up deep-seated emotions to the surface, helping you to heal. This is a time of release and renewal, so use the next two weeks to slow down and rest. As you close a chapter in your life and process the past six months, consider what you want to experience between now and springtime. You can leverage this lunation by getting some extra sleep and taking time for solitude. Since your subconscious will be very porous over the next two weeks, be sure to only give conscious attention to what you want to happen. By meditating, visualizing, using affirmations, and even self-hypnosis, you’ll be preparing your mind and body for the next level of joy and success.
GEMINI: The Full Moon in Aries will transit your Eleventh House of Hopes, Community, and Friendship, highlighting your needs for connection and aspiration in your life. Leverage this lunation by aligning with your ideal vision of the future. Ask yourself, “Why not?” i.e., why not go after your highest hopes, dreams, wishes, and goals? If you don’t, someone else will, so why not you? There are no “dangling carrots” in the universe, so whatever you want comes with the built-in, prerequisite ability for you to achieve it. If you’re having a hard time keeping your eyes on the prize, gauge whether those around you are supporting or undermining your efforts. You want to make sure you’re connected to those who inspire and uplift you; if they don’t, it may be time to “clean house” and release unhelpful people that keep you playing small.
CANCER: As the Full Moon in Aries lights up your Tenth House of Status, you may be ready for a transition in your career. Focus on your accomplishments and where you wish to be professionally in six months, but don’t wear yourself out: The Full Moon is about releasing, so it’s time to let go of any insecurities on the career front. This should be easy to do now, as professional issues that need to be improved are likely to surface: you may be ready to close a chapter in your career, move on from your current role, or step up to the next level. Release any fears keeping you from being more of an authority in your field. Are you “dancing below the ceiling,” afraid of being “too much” or “too big?” If so, this is a time to heal your issues with taking up space and being an authority, so you can maximize your contribution to society in ways that feel natural and fulfilling.
LEO: The Full Moon in Aries will light up your Ninth House of Expansion, igniting your adventurous side. You may have “itchy feet” over the next two weeks, wishing to chalk your plan in favor of spontaneity. Living life as fully as possible is desired now, so it’s the perfect time to plan a trip, enroll in a class, or somehow broaden your horizons. As part of the new experiences you’re craving, you may be ready to showcase your talent to the world, so broadcasting or publishing opportunities may come your way. Since the Full Moon is all about letting go, release any self-imposed shackles and fears around expansion. Though you may be inclined to play it safe and stick with what you know, the universe is wanting you to go beyond your stretch. Take a chance and be open to growth — follow your excitement now, even if it’s a little bit scary!
VIRGO: As the Full Moon in Aries transits your Eighth House of Rebirth, you’re ready to embrace a whole new level of growth. During this caterpillar-like time of metamorphosis, you’ll likely say “goodbye” to things that no longer have heart and meaning. Even if you’re transitioning from something negative into something positive (single to partnered, old job to new job, etc.) you will still have to mourn the old to fully embrace the new. Likewise, the theme of boundaries is likely to come up over the next two weeks: If something is making you feel bad, set a boundary and protect yourself; if something is making you feel good, let down your guard more, be vulnerable, and share! All things considered, you may be experiencing very intense emotions now, so give yourself space and time to reflect; stay flexible and go with the flow — do what’s easiest and gentlest for you now.
LIBRA: The Full Moon in Aries will transit up your Seventh House of Partnerships, highlighting the relationship area of your chart. Be sure to advocate for your feelings while giving your partner the freedom to express theirs. By infusing a deeper level of trust in your relationships, you’ll experience more joy and growth. Use the next two weeks to balance the scales by addressing any issues that may be on your mind. Consider your earliest “relationship stories.” Are you always the one having to do the “heavy lifting” in your partnership? Do you find yourself closing down when your significant other is opening up? Whatever dynamic is rearing its head again now, you have an opportunity to change the storyline. Release any fears or anxieties around partnering and relationships — love flourishes when there’s freedom, so let go and let God.
SCORPIO: The Full Moon in Aries will highlight your Sixth House of Lifestyle. This lunation is about your wellness and routine, so use the next two weeks to strengthen your commitment to self-care. There’s a lot of power in our daily routines — our habits create our lives! Consider what habits you can establish now for changes you’d like to see come spring. If you’ve been giving more than you’re getting back — in work or in a relationship — it’s time to put yourself first and tip the scales. Likewise, if there’s any bad habits you want to release, this is the perfect time to let them go. Your work over the next two weeks is likely to be FULL, so pace yourself and set your boundaries (no 12-hour days). If you’re looking for new work, use the next two weeks to make the job you’re currently in more satisfying; this will help make finding a new job easier.
SAGITTARIUS: The Full Moon in Aries will highlight your Fifth House of Creativity, helping you to experience more passion and joy. This is a celebratory transit, so be sure let loose and have a lot of fun! If you’re in a relationship, a romantic getaway or hot date night is in order! If you’re dating, you could find someone soon who really turns your lights on! Remember, however, the Fifth House is about romance and true love, NOT necessarily committed partnerships, so be sure you’re on the same page with paramours! Further, the Full Moon cycle is about releasing, so if you have any guilt around experiencing joy, use the next two weeks to let it go! The purpose of your life is joy —and now that’s your primary purpose — so follow your bliss, have fun, and take pictures!
CAPRICORN: The Full Moon in Aries will highlight your Fourth House of Emotional Security. This transit usually pertains to your home and family, so your domestic life may get busy over the next two weeks. You may have a big family event, decide to move, or consider renovating your home. At the same time, this is a very sensitive transit, focusing on your foundations and what makes you feel safe and secure. With that in mind, do what you can over the next two weeks to nest and rest. Check in with yourself and let your emotions flow. If there’s anyone or anything that is undermining your emotional security or jepordizing your self-esteem, now’s the time to make adjustments by setting boundaries or calling it quits. The point of this transit is to make you feel as comfortable and as yummy as possible, so don’t tolerate what makes you feel bad!
AQUARIUS: The Full Moon in Aries will highlight your Third House of Communications, leading to cool conversations and eureka ideas. Follow your excitement like a breadcrumb trail! Over the next two weeks, you’re likely to learn new and valuable information — another piece of the puzzle now arrives! This lunation also pertains to siblings and neighbors, so spend more time with them if so inclined. Most important, this transit is about learning to communicate with yourself and others more effectively. How we learned to communicate started in grade school (an echo of this transit) so if you had been stifled, neurotic, or insecure talking or writing when young, it’s time to heal the inner child and welcome the adult communicator in your life, by freely and clearly saying what’s on your mind!
PISCES: The Full Moon in Aries will highlight your Second House of Finances, which pertains to your values and self-esteem. There’s been a lot of changes over the past six months, so check in and see if your values and life priorities have shifted. When you live your life in accordance with your up-to-date values, you strengthen your self-worth, which strengthens your financial wellness! In this vein, over the next two weeks you may be ready to take on a new job or client that pads your pockets. Use this time to focus on your talents and skills — even develop them more now if so inclined! Finally, the second house pertains to your voice and throat chakra; if you have any tension in the throat region, you may be holding something back emotionally; be sure to release the energy in your throat by singing, venting, or somehow expressing how you feel.
