New Moon in Gemini - Laughing in the Purple Rain

It’s one of the most iconic power ballads of all time. Originally, it was meant to be a country song sung by Stevie Nicks! 

Purple Rain changed considerably from its instrumental version after Nicks rejected it. When asked about the meaning of the song, Prince said:

“When there’s blood in the sky — red and blue = purple… purple rain pertains to the end of the world and being with the one you love and letting your faith/god guide you through the purple rain.”

Though it’s not the “end of the world,” it is the end of the world we once knew.
