Love Will Keep Us Together - New Moon Solar Eclipse in Cancer

Right on the heels of the Summer Solstice, we had a New Moon Solar Eclipse in the sign of Cancer on Sunday, June 21, 2020. Just like any New Moon, a Solar Eclipse marks new beginnings, but are more intense and powerful. Eclipses interrupt life as we know it: As the Moon moves in front of the Sun, day becomes night and night becomes day. Within six months of an eclipse, our lives may also experience an interruption — typically in the form of big-time growth and rapid change.

While the Moon is associated with our subconscious and emotions, the Sun represents our consciousness and rationality; both are subject to change under an eclipse, thus embarking us on a new normal. Pluto and Jupiter — the planets of transformation and expansion, respectively — are VIP guests at the party. The two planets harmoniously sextile Mars, helping to ease our growing pains catalyzed by the eclipse. Gritty taskmaster Saturn, however, is also a VIP in the night sky — and one of the most important ones: As if interrupting conversations and bumping roughshod into other guests, he makes an awkward quincunx with the Sun and Moon. With Saturn’s influence this eclipse, therefore, we’ll have to STOP and adjust our stance. Once we do, we may realize that Saturn brings value to the party, acting as the cohesive agent that keeps us on track. The idea of “keep[ing] us together” is multifaceted.
