SOWING THE SEEDS OF LOVE: GEMINI NEW MOON

New Moons represent the end of one cycle and the beginning of another. They give us an invigorating burst of energy — and this one will especially with its proximity to action-oriented Mars. Mercury is retrograde, however, and it’s the ruler of this new moon, so it’ll be important not to rush into anything before giving it ample consideration. In fact, Mercury Retrograde is the best time to review, reflect, and reconsider — anything with the “re” prefix. (Mercury will turn direct June 3, and will leave its post-shadow period June 18.)

From April 20-May 20, the Sun was in the sign of Taurus, which rules values. This was a game-changing period with two eclipses which may have jostled our values around a bit: What mattered to us most before may not any longer, and we may have reprioritized what’s important in our lives. When the Sun enters Gemini, as it did on May 21, we make choices based on our values. Next month, when the Sun enters the emotional sign of Cancer, we’ll be nurturing what we value (Taurus) and the choices we made (Gemini) to create a strong emotional foundation in our lives (Cancer).

Due to Mercury Retrograde, the best use of this New Moon may be to lean into what we want more of in our lives. Now that we’ve rediscovered ourselves, what seeds do we wish to sow? Or, put another way, what or whom over the next six months do we want to love?

To see what seeds are best to sow over this New Moon, determine which house 9 degrees of Gemini falls in your astrological chart; likewise, read the horoscope for your sign and/or rising sign below. Remember that love, like everything else, begins with a choice, a key theme of Gemini. Whatever you choose, choose love — the most powerful force in the Universe.

Aries: The New Moon in Gemini will give you an opportunity to sow seeds of love in your communications, as Luna transits your Third House of the Lower Mind. You’re upon a new “air” cycle now, with fresh ways of thinking and updated things to think about. Expect new places to go, new things to do, and new people to meet and see. Due to Mercury Retrograde, this is a great time to “think back” to anything you once really loved, to help you determine what might make you happy. In fact, if there’s anyone or anything from the past you once loved, Mercury Retrograde makes it easier to pick right back up where you had left off, so consider rekindling old flames, whether they be people or hobbies. If there’s nothing from the past that excites you, perhaps there will be a new subject you love that you’ll focus on for the next six months. Most important, this transit is about the mind: What you think determines how you feel, and how you feel determines what you do, which creates your reality — so choose to focus on what you love as much as possible. Whatever we focus on grows, and with more love in your brain over the next six months, you’re bound to find more happiness and success.

Taurus: The New Moon in Gemini will give you the opportunity to sow seeds of love for your financial wellness and the expression of your talents, as Luna transits your Second House of Self-Worth. This is a time of blessings and abundance, so consider what you can do now that will lead to more prosperity and self-expression (the two go hand in hand). With Mercury Retrograde now, you may find financial opportunities from something in the past, be it through a former client, job, or hobby you can monetize. Even if you don’t look to the past for more prosperity, there may be ideas you’ve had before that are now ready to hatch. Additionally, over this cycle it’ll be important for you to express yourself. Your sign rules the throat, and if you have any blocks in your throat chakra, it may hinder your prosperity. Express yourself in a safe way now, be it venting to a person you trust, writing a letter you don’t send (just to get something off your chest), or working out your body to release any tension and frustration. If you feel you have to tell someone what you think and how you feel, be sure to do so gently: Mercury is retrograde, and you can’t “unring” a bell. As a Taurus, you’re very connected to your body, so use this time to get yours all tuned up and kink-free — that will allow the natural abundance of the earth to flow through you; abundance is your natural state, after all.

Gemini: Happy Birthday, Gemini! The New Moon will give you an opportunity to sow seeds of love for yourself — body, mind, and soul — as Luna transits your First House of Identity. You have the mojo now to get what you want in your life by being “reborn” into that new person who would have it. Giving love to the “new you” will help you attract more romance, money, status, friends, and whatever else you want over the next six months. Decide who you want to be, trust that decision, and act like you trust that decision, i.e., nurture the new you/decision! Remember, the Universe doesn’t speak in languages; you have to consistently experience and broadcast the emotions of having what you want to attract it. You have a strong mind, Gemini — so use it now to focus only on what you want to happen and don’t give any consideration to things you don’t want to manifest. As part of your new identity, you may wish to sport a new look. Before you tell your hairdresser your “brand new idea” or charge up a new wardrobe at Nordstroms, you may want to hold off for a few more weeks: Mercury rules vision and is retrograde until June 3 (it leaves its shadow June 18), so this time may be best used to research ideas for how you’ll look this banner year.

Cancer: The New Moon in Gemini will give you the opportunity to sow seeds of love in your subconscious, helping you to heal any self-sabotaging behavior patterns, as it transits your Twelfth House of Self-Undoing. Anything you could possibly ever want has to take place in the psyche before it can manifest, so this is a very important transit. Like a computer, you have to give your brain the “codes” in needs to align with your desires. Use the next two weeks to play over in your mind the “best case scenarios” for those things that matter in your life. You can make the most of this time by creating or doubling down on a meditation practice. If you ever experienced hardship or trauma, your brain may be wired to expect it again which makes you attract situations you don’t prefer. Using this transit to retrain your mind and rewire your brain through meditation and visualization will be time well-spent! This is also the transit to process everything that’s gone on in your life over the past year, so spend more time alone over the next two weeks and allow yourself some extra sleep. When it comes to work and creative projects, you’ll make the most strides by working behind the scenes. With your birthday coming up, you will be front and center soon, so use this time to nest and rest, as you flood your subconscious with as much love as possible!

Leo: The New Moon in Gemini will give you an opportunity to sow seeds of love in your friendships and community, as well as your greatest hopes, dreams, wishes and ideals, as Luna transits your Eleventh House of Big Thinking. This transit will increase your confidence to go for those shiniest apples on the tree. Keep in mind that whatever you want comes with it the built-in, prerequisite ability for you to achieve it, so ask yourself “why not?” and start planting seeds for what will truly make you happy. The sky’s the limit for you now, so do what you can to feel as perfect as possible and surround yourself with people who can cheer you on. In fact, friends and community are very relevant to this transit: Perhaps there’s a group of like-minded people with whom you can connect and share. There’s a special kind of power inherent in collective energy, so consider joining some social group, club, or class to empower you and your dreams. Additionally, this transit pertains to friends, so spend some time over the next two weeks considering the friendships you have and how you might nurture them. If you think some new chums would be beneficial now, be bold and make the first move to add the right people to your circle. It’s important to have friends, and the universe is queued up now to bring you some really cool people!

Virgo: The New Moon in Gemini will give you the opportunity to sow seeds of love in your career, as it transits your Tenth House of Position and Honors. If there were ever a time to get ahead professionally, this would be it! There’s a spotlight on your professional life now, so make sure you’re feeling great and getting your rest, exercise, etc., so you can handle any extra responsibilities that come your way. In fact, the more you focus on self-care over the next two weeks and cultivate the habits you can bring into autumn, the easier it will be to handle professional challenges and opportunities. In line with now being a good time to nurture your career, use this New Moon period to think about your longer-term goals: What might you do now that will give you a leg up in your profession five years down the line? If you are interested in changing your career (or even just adapting it) now is a great time to plant those seeds for the future; even if it’s doing one small extra thing a week in light of your long-term goals, it will be well-worth the effort. The Tenth House transit you’re going through now is about your legacy — what you’ll leave behind. Give some thought to how you can use your specific talents and skills to make the world a better place, and you’ll be riding even higher than you are now.

Libra: The New Moon in Gemini will give you an opportunity to sow seeds of love when it comes to your growth and expansion, as Luna transits your Ninth House of the Higher Mind. In fact, the best use of this time may be to share yourself with the universe so that others may grow through your gifts and talents. Whenever we give of ourselves to others, we immediately get a return on our investment, so be generous when it comes to sharing yourself — be it through teaching, publishing, broadcasting, or something else.. If you’re not sharing your perspective with others, you can use this time to expand your mind! This transit calls for a challenge now — something to get you out of your comfort zone — for you to feel fulfilled. Follow your highest excitement and go out on a limb to see the world in a fresher way: Plan a trip to a faraway land or absorb yourself in a culture other than your own. Or push your intellectual limits and take on a new course of study that challenges you. This “search for meaning” makes life meaningful, so enjoy this time! This transit is known for those “A-ha moments,” so to get on the fast track, deepen your spirituality by diving into esoteric, religious, or philosophical topics.

Scorpio: The New Moon in Gemini will give you an opportunity to sow seeds of love when it comes to rebirth, as Luna transits your Eighth House of Transformation. This is a big-deal transit, Scorpio — good thing transformation is the name of your game! Over the next two weeks, the theme will be boundaries, those you set and those you dissolve; it’s your boundaries (what you blend with and what you separate from) that determines the nature of your rebirth and transformation. Give some thought to how your life could be greatly improved, and what will make you feel most empowered. This could be as simple as looking at what drains your energy and putting safeguards in place to create balance. Alternatively, you may be growing tired of doing things all on your own and want to combine your resources with another to lessen your load. In either case, the boundaries you set or dissolve now should lead to your empowerment. However you decide to adapt your boundaries will require some letting go; even if you’re moving from a negative state into a positive one, there will be some releasing of energy necessary. Be sure to use this time to mourn the past, so you can fully enjoy the bright future ahead.

Sagittarius: The New Moon in Gemini will give you an opportunity to sow seeds of love in your relationships, as Luna transits your Seventh House of Partnerships. This is an important transit that can help you experience great joy in your long-term relations — be it your significant other, best friend, professional partners, and favorite consultants. Whether you want to strengthen those partnerships you have now or co-create with the universe to draw someone new into your life, the time is ripe! If you’re looking for a partner, use this New Moon to list all of the qualities you want him or her to have, and do your part on a practical level to help them find you! Keep in mind that Mercury is retrograde under this New Moon, so people from the past may show up; use your savvy to determine whether or not these people are worth another go! Likewise, old lessons may come up again now, too, so review any wrong moves you made in the past or any regrets, as to change your “relationship story.” Finally, since this time is about the “other” in your life, it may be most advantageous to see things from your partner’s perspective — to even compromise, as that would likely work in your favor over the long-term: Bend now and reap the rewards later!

Capricorn: The New Moon in Gemini will give you an opportunity to sow seeds of love when it comes to your lifestyle, as Luna transits your Sixth House of Work and Health. The Sixth House encompasses what we do, day-in and day-out, which determines what we achieve. Thus, you can use this transit to cultivate the daily habits that create your ideal reality. Perhaps you’ll start a nutritious diet or exercise regimen as an investment in your health. Or maybe you’ll use this Gemini New Moon to streamline your day-to-day systems and processes. In addition to making adjustments to your lifestyle, you may also wish to find new employment during this time. Since Mercury is Retrograde this New Moon, success is more likely to be found with people and places from the past. Perhaps reconnect with those people and companies you loved working with before — there might be a job opening available. If there’s something professionally you did before that you miss, you may want to return to that now as well. Whatever you do, the point of this transit is to get your life running like a well-oiled machine. Determine the “weak links” and the “dead wood,” and lean into what will have you waking up excited for the day ahead.

Aquarius: The New Moon in Gemini will give you an opportunity to sow seeds of love when it comes to your creativity, as Luna transits your Fifth House of Pleasure. This transit is meant to catalyze your inner child; it covers all those things that fill you up will joy — romance, hobbies, and recreational pursuits. Really, this transit is about self-expression and anything you “create” from your heart — be it children, a creative project, or just a good time! Use this New Moon to quiet down your mind and listen to your heart: What is it that truly excites you? When you find it, nurture it and make it a bigger part of your life. You might decide to pour your heart into a creative project or dedicate a portion of your week to fun and games! If you’re looking for romance, this is a great time for it. The Fifth House, however, are those more “casual” affairs with no strings attached, so take things slow and don’t commit to anything unless sure. In fact, since Mercury is retrograde at the time of this New Moon, proceed with caution! Opportunities that come up under the retrograde tend to be different than what we expect! Further, with Mercury Retrograde, old lovers from the past may pop up. Use good judgment in determining whether or not you want to give someone another chance. Whatever you do this transit, lean into whatever fills you up with joy, as that will inspire other areas of your life as well.

Pisces: The New Moon in Gemini will give you an opportunity to sow seeds of love when it comes to your emotional security, as Luna transits your Fourth House of Home and Family. This transit is about those things that make you feel safe and secure; use this New Moon to drill down to what that is. Is it your family that makes you feel good? Your mate? Your friends? Plenty of money in the bank? What provides emotional sustenance for all of us is very different, so determine what makes you feel yummy inside. Since our physical home acts as a metaphor for our emotional security, you may wish to make adjustments to your abode. This could be cleaning and decluttering or redecorating and buying new furniture. Further, if you’re looking to move, now is a great time for researching ideal places; since this New Moon falls under Mercury Retrograde, you may want to wait until mid-June to seal the deal on a new place. (If you started the house-hunting process in early May, you’re fine, just be sure to review contracts etc. carefully before signing papers.) This transit is also good for reconnecting with those you love. With our lives so busy, sometimes it’s easy to forget those connections that make us feel heard and seen; look to those people now, as the emotional sustenance they give you will make all your endeavors easier.
